Naina Srivastava

she/her

"Naina Srivastava, currently a senior at Campolindo High School in Moraga, California, founded themendingnote driven by her fervent advocacy for the unifying potential of music in fostering connections across diverse communities. She has engaged in conversations with many individuals who expressed their profound connection to music, highlighting its remarkable capacity to facilitate connections, provide a means for self-expression, and offer moments of joy even in the face of challenging circumstances.
As president of her school's orchestra, Naina witnessed firsthand how playing music can bring people together, creating a harmonious environment where diverse individuals share a collective passion.
Further, Naina, after having torn her ACL during her sophomore year basketball season, discovered solace in music herself when she turned to playing cello in youth orchestras. This personal journey deepened her belief in the transformative power of music, inspiring her to create themendingnote as a platform dedicated to fostering connections through shared musical experiences.
This insight taken together has fueled her commitment to themendingnote, where she continues to bridge gaps, break down barriers, and create spaces where the transformative power of music converges with a shared appreciation for connection and self-expression. She continues to spread the program across the Bay Area, recruiting tens of musically-minded, passionate volunteers, and is even growing the program to other states."

"I am a student at Campolindo High School. I have been playing the violin and piano around 8 years.
My household is all about music! My grandma is a music teacher and is a huge inspiration for me. Some of my favorite memories were when my grandma and I picked new songs to play in the evenings. She would sit down on the piano, I would grab my violin, and we would start to make music!
I also play for the Campolindo Orchestra, which is my favorite class because of the supportive, fun, and creative environment. I am so excited to be working with themendingnote and to share the power that music holds in mind and spirit, as well as in strengthening communities."

Winston Li

they/them (provisional)

"Hi, I'm Winston, and I'm the developer of this site. I've been playing the cello for about 8 years. When asked in middle school why I started, I answered "because I could sit down." It's definitely been a journey since then for my technical skills, musicality, and self-confidence. I hope to share this journey with others!
If you're curious, the site's toolchain is SvelteKit, TailwindCSS, DaisyUI, and TypeScript. It's hosted with Vercel on a domain bought from Porkbun."

Nishta Mukundan

she/her

"My name is Nishta and I've been playing the viola for a little over 7 years. It's always been fun for me to play with other people, and I've always enjoyed making music. I also play the piano and sometimes sing, so overall big music person. The viola doesn't really get too much representation, but I think it's a really great instrument, and I'm really interested in sharing whatever skill I have with anyone who'll listen. I find themendingnote's mission to be very meaningful, and I'm glad I can help out in any way!"
